SRP Deep Cleaning
At Imaging Dentistry, under the expertise of Dr. Vahan Grigoryan, we offer scaling and root planing (SRP). Our skilled Dental Hygienist use SRP Deep cleaning to effectively remove plaque and tartar buildup above and below the gum line. This non-surgical procedure plays a crucial role in improving gum health, reducing inflammation, and preserving the integrity of supporting tissues.

What is SRP Deep Cleaning?
SRP deep cleaning, also known as scaling and root planing, is a comprehensive dental procedure designed to eliminate plaque and tartar buildup that has accumulated above and below the gum line. This thorough cleaning targets the bacteria and toxins responsible for gum disease and aims to prevent its progression. By meticulously cleaning the tooth surfaces and smoothing out rough spots on the roots, SRP deep cleaning helps reduce inflammation, bleeding gums, and improves overall gum health.

This non-surgical treatment plays a crucial role in stabilizing the teeth, preventing further bone loss, and preserving the integrity of the supporting tissues. By addressing underlying gum disease and promoting optimal oral health, SRP deep cleaning contributes to a healthier smile.

To achieve longer-lasting results, it is best if SRP is combined with ARESTIN® treatment where needed. ARESTIN® is a powerful antibiotic that is placed into the infected gum pockets below the gum line to kill the bacteria and prevent gum diasese.
Benefits of SRP Deep Cleaning
Undergoing SRP deep cleaning offers several benefits:
Improved Gum Health
SRP deep cleaning effectively removes plaque and tartar buildup, reducing inflammation and bleeding gums. This improves gum health and helps prevent the progression of gum disease.
Reduced Risk of Tooth Loss
Gum disease can lead to tooth loss if left untreated. SRP deep cleaning helps prevent tooth loss by addressing underlying gum disease and promoting optimal oral health.
Preservation of Supporting Tissues
By eliminating bacteria and toxins, SRP deep cleaning helps stabilize the teeth and prevents further bone loss. This preserves the integrity of the supporting tissues, including gums and jawbone.
Enhanced Oral Hygiene
Following SRP deep cleaning, maintaining good oral hygiene practices, such as regular brushing, flossing, and routine dental visits, becomes even more effective. SRP provides a clean slate for maintaining optimal oral health.

Who is a Good Candidate for SRP Deep Cleaning?
SRP deep cleaning may be recommended for individuals experiencing the following symptoms or dental issues:
Gum Disease: If you have been diagnosed with gum disease, which includes symptoms like gum inflammation, bleeding, deep periodontal pockets, and bone loss, SRP deep cleaning is a suitable treatment option.
Plaque and Tartar Buildup: If you have a significant buildup of plaque and tartar above and below the gum line, which cannot be effectively removed through regular oral hygiene practices, SRP deep cleaning is necessary to eliminate the bacteria and toxins causing gum disease.
Bad Breath: Persistent bad breath, also known as halitosis, can be an indication of gum disease. SRP deep cleaning can help address the underlying cause of bad breath and improve oral hygiene.
Preventive Care: SRP deep cleaning is beneficial for individuals looking to maintain optimal oral health and prevents the progression of gum disease. By addressing early signs of gum disease, SRP can help prevent further complications and the need for more invasive treatments in the future.
SRP Deep Cleaning Process
01.
Comprehensive Evaluation
During an initial periodontal evaluation, Dr. Vahan Grigoryan will assess your gum health. Our experienced dental Hygienist will further measure the depth of periodontal pockets and evaluate the severity of gum disease. Based on the evaluation, the dental Hygienist will determine if SRP deep cleaning is necessary.
03.
Root Planing
After scaling, root planing is performed to smooth out rough spots on the roots of the teeth. This process helps eliminate bacteria and creates a clean surface for the gums to reattach.
02.
Scaling
The first step of SRP involves scaling, which is the removal of plaque and tartar from the tooth surfaces, both above and below the gum line. Special dental instruments are used to carefully remove these deposits.
04.
Follow-up Appointments
Regular follow-up appointments will be scheduled with your Hygienist to monitor your progress, evaluate the treatment outcome, and provide ongoing periodontal care. Dr. Vahan Grigoryan and our team will guide you on proper oral hygiene practices and provide support throughout your journey towards optimal oral health.
